Luxury spa: Glass 1989 leads the way

Who wouldn't like a luxury spa instead of a crammed, tiny bathroom? With Glass 1989, you can! Let's take a look at a few amazing designs by this Italian brand.

Lately, we’ve been falling in love with the sleek, luxury bathrooms by Glass 1989. In fact, we’re so much into them that we just have to share them with you! We’ll get there soon, but, before we do, you should maybe learn something about Glass 1989! It’s an Italian brand, and it’s quite relatively young: born in 1989, Glass 1989 has been striving to create innovative bathroom designs, combining technical how-to and a passion for sleek aesthetics. The results? Well, let’s just say that an excellent idea, if you’re looking to renovate your bathroom, is to style it with Glass 1989 designs only! How? Let’s take a look!

The Rope sauna room

Luxurious home spas have been everyone’s dream for decades, but now they’re finally starting to become more and more popular. We feel the need of a home spa to find a temporary shelter from our frenetic lives and a majestic bathtub, shower or even a home sauna are what is going to help us in this relaxing and cleansing process. Of course, luxurious home spas are not an affordable option for everybody, but still: dreaming doesn’t cost a thing, right? Glass 1989 is a brand that’s been making these luxury dreams come true for almost 30 years now; their success has been growing so much that every year we can be sure we’ll find them at the Milan Furniture Fair.

The Elle bathtub

At this year’s edition of the Salone del Mobile, Glass presented one of its latest creations, the Mawi bathtub. What’s so special about it? It’s an acrylic bathtub that, besides giving you the maximum comfort and relax -- thanks to both whirlpool technology and the colored lights you can employ for chromotherapy, can also be combined with a luxurious beauty treatment: SkinSublime. But what does it consist of? Well, basically, with this innovative system, water is enriched with millions of oxygen-rich micro-bubbles that are 50 to 100 times smaller than those in traditional whirlpool baths: these micro sized air bubbles disperse through the tub like a delicate milk bath, softly embracing your body with a silky touch, leaving the skin fresh, clean and rejuvenated. Very few bathtubs on the market can guarantee better results than this.

The Mawi bathtub

Glass 1989 designs all sorts of bathtubs: sunken, freestanding...even half and half! There are no words that could do justice to the originality and purity of this design, for instance. Clean and essential, the Beyond bathtub combines high technical quality, aesthetics and ergonomics. A (half-)sunken bathtub that is guaranteed to make you feel instantly relaxed! You can rest assured your water will always be maintained at the perfect temperature, thanks to the isolating materials. Moreover, it is an intimate tub, but still not too tiny: it can contain water enough to allow you to bath both solo and in company. Should you choose a half-sunken tub? The answer is “yes”, if you want to enjoy a bathtub that takes up the space of a sunken tub, while providing the aesthetics of a beautifully curved freestanding model.

The Beyond bathtub

Bathtubs are not appreciated by everyone: that’s why Glass 1989 has a line that’s exclusively dedicated to showers. You’ll notice how the dimensions of showers have been steadily growing larger through the years. Initially, their one and only function was to provide a quick way of deep cleaning oneself, and so they were small and functional. But, following the appreciation for self-care and wellness that now characterizes our era, shower cabins have developed two new features. First of all, until a few years ago, glass doors used to be opaque, whereas now, the shower has become a transparent, rarefied space: the deep cleansing effect of a long shower is reflected by its crystal-clear walls. Secondly, the shower often comes equipped with benches and stools, to ensure a perfectly relaxing and comfortable shower experience.

The Noor steam shower

Of course, what home spa would it be without a Finnish sauna? Everyone knows the benefits of a sauna: the high temperature causes profuse sweating, which helps your body get rid of toxins; the whole process also benefits nervous and hormonal regulation. So, a Finnish sauna is a perfect addition to your house always, but especially if you’re a sporty person: a nice steam bath after your workout will make your body feel revitalized. Of course, as the Nordic tradition wants, a sauna must be made of high-quality wood, and in fact, for their saunas, Glass 1989 designers have employed spruce wood from the Tarvisio forest and hemlock spruce from the Alaskan and Canadian rainforests. Do you happen to have a swimming pool? Great! A sauna will do miracles for your wellbeing AND your swimming, depending on when you decide to use it!

The Memo Finnish sauna

In conclusion, there are not that many brands that can cover all of your favourite bathroom fixtures -- bathtubs, showers, saunas -- while guaranteeing the maximum level of comfort and wellness. Even when it comes to tubs, it doesn’t really matter if we’re talking about a massive model, like the Mawi, or a smaller, more discrete one. The main concept is that, regardless of the dimensions of your bathroom, you still deserve to enjoy the full luxury of a personal wellness centre and home spa.
